The aim of The State of African Cities 2018: The geography of African investment report is to contribute to development policies that can turn African cities into more attractive, competitive and resilient foreign direct investment (FDI) destinations. Attracting global FDI is highly competitive and crosses various geographic scales, therefore regional cooperation by cities and nations is critical. But FDI is not a panacea since it has both positive and negative effects and careful choices need to be made by cities in their pursuit of FDI, if it is to lead to inclusive economic growth.

Ningo-Prampram planning authority approves Accra’s planned city extension

Accra, 27 July 2016 – The concept plan for the Accra urban extension in Ningo-Prampram, developed by UN-Habitat’s Urban Planning and Design LAB, was approved by the Statutory Planning Authority of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA).

UN-Habitat publishes a training pack on pro-poor housing in Africa

Nairobi, 5 August 2015-- UN-Habitat has published a Training Pack on housing the poor in Africa. The pack is a resourceful training companion that is made available on-line for download from UN-Habitat website.  Training and Capacity Building organizations and other learning institutions can use the Training Pack to train policy makers and housing practitioners from the public, private and community sectors.
