UN-Habitat shares the vision to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Increasing international cooperation is vital to achieving this.

Partnerships for sustainable urban development involve a wide network of actors, including Member States, international organizations, international and regional associations of cities, NGOs, the private sector, civil societies and specialized funding bodies.

UN-Habitat also promotes UN system-wide inter-agency coordination as a critical component of its partnership strategy. UN agencies within their specialized mandates have the expertise and responsibility to respond to issues affecting urban and rural dwellers as a result of rapid urbanization.
